After spending more than a week clicking around the Internets and watching 3 of the 5 interviews with George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy, I have achieved Yoda-like calm over the future of the franchise.
YODA: Always in motion is the future.
OBI WAN: Patience!
LUKE: And sacrifice Han and Leia?
YODA: If you value what they fight for…YES.
It’s time to move onward and upward…to my first ever Star Wars Christmas list.
Why is this my first? Blame it on Pinterest. I think I’ve mentioned before that I’m hopelessly addicted to Pinterest? Do not be fooled by the lack of “Follow Me on Pinterest” buttons on this blog…I just can’t figure out the freakin buttons! (However, if you want to follow my Star Wars Geekery or any other of the crazy boards I’ve been obsessively creating, click here.)
Anyhoo, this pinning obsession has led me to discover all sorts of fantastical Star Wars collectibles. Hence, the sudden pressing need to create a Star Wars Christmas List.
First and foremost, every fangirl wants a lightsaber! Luckily, there’s lots of options.
- For only $3.49, these Star Wars Lightsaber Toothbrushes are going to be appearing next to my bathroom sink very soon.
- As Qui-Gon Jinn says, “There’s always a bigger fish.” Be prepared with Star Wars Chop Sabers. (So fun).
- Yes, the pen is mightier than the sword…especially a Lightsaber Pen.
(I am so going to be signing my books with that pen!!!)
If those mere trinkets do not satisfy a girl’s lust for a good saber (ahem), there’s always the magnificent Star Wars FX Lightsabers.
Moving on…what fangirl doesn’t want to own Han Solo in Carbonite? If money is not an object (and you are not easily creeped out), this limited edition piece of functional art by UK based R9 Studio is the ultimate geekery statement piece:
- Han Solo in Carbonite iPhone Cover (Um, seriously, I NEED that!)
- Han Solo in Carbonite Ice Cube
- Han Solo in Carbonite Chocolate
Hmmm…maybe I should just ask for gift certificates from Think Geek since most of my links seem to lead to their website?
I’m also a huge fan of the Her Universe website (the company created by Ashley Eckstein, actress and voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars). My most favorite item there is the Princess Leia Hoodie. (I think we’ve already established the fact that I love Princess Leia a little too much. Obviously, I need to own this item.)
I probably would not be brave enough to wear that outside my house, but I would proudly wear this R2D2 Hoodie. And I would also wear these hand painted R2D2 TOMS shoes. And then I would drive around Dahlonega on this totally amazing R2R2 Vespa (which is not for sale…I would need a plain old white Vespa, lots of adhesive vinyl, and a 12-pack of beer to recreate this masterpiece, but if anyone has a white Vespa they would like to give unto me, I WILL do the work!)
For those days when I don’t want to fly my geek flag quite so boldly, I would like a new wardrobe built by the absolutely brilliant Leslie Kay. This woman is a genius! She created the Disney fan website called Disney Bound where she posts surprisingly fashionable outfits inspired by Disney characters. I think even my #1 fashion idol, Tim Gunn, would like some of her styling.
Way before Disney agreed to purchase LucasFilm, there were Star Wars Weekends and Star Tours at the Disney parks, so she has already created many, many outfits for the more fashion forward fangirl. My absolute favorite is Yoda Grunge Look. (It is also my most liked/repinned pin on Pinterest).
Speaking of Disney Parks, I usually avoid them due to the high concentration of cranky younglings generally found there. However, if anyone wants to send me to a Disney Star Wars Weekend next year, I will not say no.
OK, now back to more realistic gift items found while pinning:
- This R2D2 fine art print would look lovely in my living room
- One of these Coffee Cozies would be a hoot.
- Oh look, I just found another awesome hoodie! YODA!
- OMG! Zoey would look so adorable in this Yoda kitty hat (until she managed to run away from home in sheer disgust).
- This bumper sticker is perfect for my dented, old Hyundai, and, and…
Oh wow. Did you know there are 17,363 items when you search “Star Wars in Handmade” on Etsy? This is getting ridiculous. I could lose a whole day doing this…and it’s such a lovely, sunny day here in the North Georgia mountains. I’d better step away from this madness and get myself out into the national forest for a hike with my Honey before I start to resemble Jabba the Fiance.
However, if anyone out there wants to suggest some more fabulous Star Wars items for this wish list, send your ideas! I’m sure there’s a rainy day coming in the near future that will be perfect for a few hours of Pinterest time wastery.
