For those of you who only know me through my White Crow Mysteries, you probably would not guess that I’m a huge Star Wars geek. So when the new movie trailer dropped this week, I was thrilled! I’ve already watched it about 20 times (and I tear up every single time I see Carrie Fisher).
So … seems like a great time to relaunch my original fangirl novel.
My first novel, entitled Not So Long Ago, Not So Far Away, was originally published in May 2013. It’s a quirky coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of the original Star Wars fan phenomenon.
Back in 2013, I was terrified of the idea of being an indie author/publisher so I decided to sign a traditional publishing contract with a small, family-owned publishing house. The novel received fantastic reviews and even got a recommendation/blurb from NYT best-selling author Joshilyn Jackson (who happens to be a fellow geek and also one of my most favorite authors of all time). However, the book’s marketing and pricing strategies were not optimized for the modern era. After making a very modest profit the first year, the title faded into oblivion.
Well, I still love that novel and I’m not willing to let it die.
The publisher recently reverted all rights back to me and I’m going to re-launch it.

PS – I am still at hard at work on White Crow Book 2, now retitled Unbroken. It will be released in late summer/early fall … right around the time Halloween decorations start appearing in stores. In the meantime, I continue to send out free White Crow short stories to everyone on my email list. Grimm Beaker went out last week. Sign up for The Murder today so you won’t miss any updates or free books.
